On Friday, June 20, Huber Engineered Materials announced a price increase for its specialty grade silica and silicates. The increase is effective July 1, 2008, or as contracts allow. Prices will increase by an average of eight to 12 percent, depending on the grade and form. From the press release:
“Huber’s silica business continues to focus significant efforts on improving the productivity of its operations to reduce the impact of rising costs on our customers,” said Marianne Riemer, sales director – global specialties. “Unfortunately, despite the productivity success we’ve achieved, the unprecedented increases in raw material, energy and transportation costs have outpaced our efforts. This price increase is necessary to ensure we can continue to provide our customers with the products and services they desire.”
